    Solar Inverter

    3 Questions

A solar inverter is needed to convert the energy generated by PV modules into a usable form. PV modules produce direct current (DC), while the power grid and appliances operate on alternating current (AC).
There are 2 types of solar inverters: single-phase (230V) and three-phase (400V) systems. If the solar inverter should also have a connection option for a storage battery, a so-called hybrid inverter is required.
This question should be clarified with a professional installer, as many factors need to be considered. Key questions include: – What is the expected energy consumption? – What does the load profile look like, i.e., when during the day is energy needed and how much? – How large is the available roof area? – Should an additional battery storage system be installed? – Should the system be modifiable to prepare for future changes?

    Solar Battery

    4 Questions

A solar battery is a storage system that stores the energy produced during the day by the photovoltaic system (PV system) so it can be used during the evening and night hours. A solar battery thus contributes to ensuring a higher degree of self-sufficiency.
There is now an overwhelming variety of solar batteries, e.g., different cell chemistries, sizes and performance levels. Strong Energy exclusively uses LFP technology (Lithium Iron Phosphate), which is considered the safest battery technology.
This question should be clarified with a professional installer. Key questions include: – How large must the power output in W/kW be? – How large should the available capacity in kWh be? – Should the system be scalable/modifiable? – How large is the PV system?
    1. With low consumption (<100W), the required energy is always drawn from the grid, as the system losses would be disproportionately high. The switching threshold for starting discharge is approximately 100W. 2. When there are rapid changes in consumption (e.g., a hairdryer or kettle is switched on), it takes several seconds for the algorithm to implement the correct discharge. 3. When the battery is being discharged, it must be prevented that stored energy flows back into the grid (VDE regulation). Typically, a draw of approximately 30W is preset. In summary, a daily draw of 1.0 kWh to 1.5 kWh is perfectly normal and does not indicate a defect.

    Portable Power Station

    3 Questions

A portable power station is a mobile energy storage device.
In principle, usage does not differ from habits at home. Our systems are equipped with standard outlets (Schuko sockets). They also feature a cigarette lighter socket as well as USB-A and USB-C ports, so you can directly charge devices like phones or tablets.
A portable power station makes you independent of the public power grid and is excellently suited for outdoor activities and camping. Depending on size, power and capacity, all conceivable appliances such as a refrigerator, lighting, an electric stove or a kettle can be operated.

    Panel

    3 Questions

A portable panel refers to a mobile photovoltaic module. It is suitable for charging a portable power station. The CS03ST-160W model is such a portable PV module. It weighs approximately 6 kg and is foldable, making it easy to transport.
Usage is very simple and completely safe. The panel is connected to the portable power station via standardized MC-4 connectors to charge it.
A portable panel, combined with a portable power station, allows you to be independent of the public power grid during outdoor activities over extended periods.

    Solar PV System

    17 Questions

This question should be clarified with a professional installer. Key questions include: – Is my roof suitable for installation? – What substructure should be used (wind pressure, snow load, etc.)? – How many photovoltaic panels are sensible/necessary and how should the connection to the PV inverter be made?
Unfortunately, this cannot be answered in general terms. There are, for example, major differences in performance and longevity as well as the construction of PV modules. It is advisable to obtain several quotes from specialist companies/installers.
    – Environmental / climate protection – Energy independence – Predictability / calculability of energy costs
Maintenance in the technical sense is not necessary. The PV modules should be cleaned as needed, as contamination reduces yield. The PV inverter should be cleaned as needed; if applicable, filter mats for devices with active cooling should be cleaned/replaced.
    1. The PV inverter has a lifespan of at least 10 years. Strong Energy devices come with a 10-year full warranty. 2. PV modules come with varying warranty terms (between 2 and 10 years). Additionally, many manufacturers guarantee performance for a period of up to 30 years.
Incentives vary from region to region. There are regularly new funding programs from development banks for low-interest loans or subsidies (also for storage systems). Currently, products are exempt from VAT.
    – Research the reliability of installation companies on platforms like Trustpilot – Choose regional specialist companies – Ask friends and acquaintances about their experiences
A grid-connected solar system may only work when the grid provides the required supply voltage. Excess production can be fed back into the grid and potentially compensated. An off-grid solar system (island system) also produces energy when no grid voltage is available.
    – Pay attention to energy efficiency ratings when purchasing new appliances – Turn off the heating when opening windows – Use energy-saving lamps or LEDs – Control lighting with motion detectors – Avoid standby mode on electrical devices – Use switchable power strips
There is no single "best" orientation! It depends on many factors: roof space, roof pitch, azimuth orientation, load profile and whether a battery storage is used. From experience, for single-family homes, an East (40%) and West (60%) split at a tilt angle of approximately 15° is recommended, as this typically provides the best average yield.
Both types consist of silicon. Monocrystalline panels have a single-crystal structure, polycrystalline a multi-crystal structure. Monocrystalline modules are more expensive but offer better efficiency.
Thin-film modules are lighter and less expensive, but also have lower efficiency than equally sized monocrystalline modules.
The difference lies in the cell chemistry used and the energy density (ratio of volume to stored energy). Lithium batteries are maintenance-free and longer-lasting than lead-acid batteries.
The MPPT controller of a PV inverter optimizes the yield of a PV system by adjusting the DC voltage. A PWM charge controller adjusts the DC voltage delivered by the PV system to directly charge a battery (DC-DC transformer).
A grid-connected inverter only works with existing grid voltage. Excess can be fed into the grid and compensated. An off-grid inverter (island system) also produces energy without grid voltage.
    1. If the generated energy covers demand, energy costs decrease and are calculable long-term. 2. Even with partial coverage, energy costs can be reduced through peak shaving. 3. Large battery storage systems are increasingly used in PPAs, direct marketing or grid stabilization – additional revenue sources.
In principle, the same benefits apply as for residential or industrial use. Additionally, yields from agricultural land can be significantly increased by combining farming and photovoltaics (SolarFarming), e.g., through reduced water requirements thanks to partial shading.
